Chairing Events and Conferences

A good chairman can make a huge difference to an event or conference. Delegates appreciate being made to feel welcome, speakers enjoy being well introduced, things runs best when they run to time and question and answer sessions are more productive when they are run rigorously and intelligently.

Most of all, organisers like to feel that their event is in safe hands.

Many years' experience as a live broadcaster, an ability to absorb and understand a brief and a natural warmth with people have given Mark Stephen all the skills needed to chair events big or small. He’s handled everything from a panel of National politicians and economists in front of an audience of 1,000 to just 20 people from a government agency who needed to talk through their future. As Mark says “ It’s not a question of being bossy or over-bearing, but most people like having somebody in charge who knows what they’re doing. And if you can make them laugh or smile occasionally, that’s not a bad thing either”
